Course Intorduction
The overall goal of this 2-day workshop is to analyse the different types of trade products and consider risk mitigation on both the export and import side of the underlying trade and the financing options, both pre and post shipment. Specifically, the workshop will equip delegates to understand what is being financed and by whom and thereby enable them to assess the risks inherent in international trade for exporters, importers and the banks providing the trade solution. Understanding the life-cycle of risks of each product and the techniques used to manage, mitigate and transfer risks between the parties involved in trade transactions are key elements.
These include documentary, legal, credit and commodity price risks and how insurance can provide protection. The regulatory considerations relating to trade finance will also be addressed and how these may be mitigated. The workshop will also highlight how trade finance differs from other forms of lending. The focus will be on identifying new revenue-generating business opportunities, whilst appropriately managing the risks in order to provide optimal trade finance solutions with a focus on supporting trade flows.
